"the anatomy" is weird already... (I don't know her)

There's a famous book, Anatomy of an Illness by Norman Cousins, that might have started "Anatomy of a" books and more.

If someone is named Yenta then she has lots of ouch moments in her life I’m sure. I read about the “Shtetel Yenta” in every second story. I mean just last week I think Mishpacha had an article labeled “Is Yente the shadchan not enough anymore?” , my point is, while I do see your point…. I think the only people to blame here are her parents that gave her the name without another name attached to it, so she can be called by a more accepted name.
2 wrong don't make 1 right. I disagree with Mishpacha's choice of a title.
I agree that parents should think twice before naming a child with a negative connotation. But that's really a separate discussion.
There are people named yenta by their parents.
If my name was Yenta and this thread was going on about my name I would feel so humiliated.
I believe that the author knew and possibly wanted discussion going back and forth about her title. So she got it.

My first name is yenta but BH my father gave me another name too… when I was younger I never told anyone… as an adult I’m not embarrassed by it but I don’t advertise it either.

It’s a shame that this name has such a negative connotation to it. I’m named after my great grandmother. She was such a special person. She was a Rebetzin of a Shul and had tons of yichus and was known for her chessed and davening. She bentched for two hours while still being an extremely stylish woman. I don’t mean to derail the thread. But since the name yenta has been so negatively portrayed I feel I have to correct that a bit…

Without getting all emotional, can you agree that she is using Yente as a deragatory term for all women who have not done the work she did?
It's weird to do so. I do not think most self help books start by degrading the people who have not 'traveled the journey'.

Yenta comes from the same root as gentle.
Gens, gensis, noble family. It's a beautiful name.
Ftr it's not really used in my circle but people use yachne which is also a name, from jacinth
