stargazer thanks for the recipe- this dressing is my new favorite- I make it with lettucemix, cucumbers, tomatoes and crushed barbecue twists- It always gets finished to the last drop= even when I have bochurim over- they never eat salad but this one a guy asked me for the recipe LOL! I especially like the fact that you only need a little dressing and it still tastes amazing!

Why would you put msg on a nice, healthy salad?

Just throw everything in. I usually only have lettuce, but I substitute with other stuff! I didn't like the other nish-nosh crackers, though, just the sour cream/onion. They are FABULOUS!! Very more-ish

The purple adds nice color to the salad, but regular should be fine too.

Dry mustard, or real mustard?

I've used either. I've also put terra sticks in the salad instead of the crackers, huge hit over here!

So what is the consensus? Which nish nosh flavor crackers really do go best with this salad?

I use CORN CHIPS instead of nish nosh.
I make it with :
Mixed lettuce
purple cabbage
red pepper (capsicum)
snow peas
cherry tomatoes
spanish onion
1 cup oil and mayo
2 teaspoons mustard
4 teaspoons soy sauce
4 teaspoons lemon juice
1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar
garlic
salt and pepper to taste
It's a family favourite

yes, but then it's just a bit heavier. but it will also last longer as the lettuce is the first thing to go soggy

I really wanted to make this salad today for a party tonight and none of the stores in my city seem to have the onion sour cream nishnushim! I could only get plain and I'm afraid they won't taste good. I did buy a bag of Doritos though. You reckon they would go well?

my aunt makes it with doritos and it comes out great.
I think anything out of the 'salad norm' and is crunchy is a hit.
about the second recipe if I have regular mustard and not dijon is that ok?

I have successfully used thin pretzel chips and seasoned bagel chips when I could not find the nishnoshim chips. I once used goldfish and that was cute.

I make this salad often (well, I usually don't put red cabbage or red onion. Just tons of different veggies... also like to add avocado and craisins), and the dressing and crunch is what makes it a hit.
I've used nashnushim as well as garlic flavored & regular flavored salad croutons. Comes out delicious every time!
