It can be nuanced. Often the key to look for is the imperfections that make sense for a REAL photo. The imperfections should make sense, like the slight asymmetry that a lot of people have in their smile... | Same. I don’t think I’ve ever been fooled by an AI photo.I see it in ads everywhere and it hurts my soul.

I got them all right, because my filter blocked out the skin color of the real pic and I could only view the AI. So I just clicked on the one that was filled in. Apparently, Nativ can tell

So interesting.
I did it yesterday looking mostly at the faces and got 5/6 wrong.
Today I tried again because someone mentioned to look at the background and I got all right

Does it take a professional to notice?

As someone who uses this type of AI a lot for work purposes, I can tell the difference. But only because I know how crazy HARD it is to get a realistic image! It can take many tries for the software to "get it".
Binah covers also bother me but at the same time I'm impressed by some of their later designs with Jews in them. Those are much much harder to originate. They usually give Jews these disproportionally huge chassidish hats, for one, and the peyos on boys is just wrong, wrong wrong!

Which is worse? Articles written with AI or graphics?

Depends on which context. In a magazine you are paying for good literary content more than graphics so I would be ok with AI generated images there, but not text. In contrast, on an Amazon product listing, when AI images are used it can be super misleading. But when the product description was done with AI, it doesn't really matter too much.

I did 10. I was wrong 6 times. Most of the time I was guessing. There were four times I was sure I knew and out of those I was wrong twice. Just to add to your study InnerMe! |
Ha ha it’s not a study just curious about it cuz I sometimes use images for certain things and I’ve wondered if the AI images really have that “soullesness” people talk about because I’m not good at detecting that
For those who did most correctly is it that you automatically “feel” something’s off or you analyze the details and decide?
I guess my question is do some people actually right away within split second just feel that an image isn’t real without even paying attention to details. I’ve seen people say that and I wonder how common it is.

I was able to detect they are fake by analyzing the details. I didn’t automatically feel that they were fake. Also AI images have a certain style, and they make grass and trees with dots, so those I can automatically detect.

So for the past 1.5 years, every time I see a photo I automatically look at the fingers, teeth, and collars. It’s driving me nuts but I just have to know if it’s real or not 😕

I see there are a few photographers on this thread. Am I the only one who, pre-AI days, would look out for reflective surfaces in magazine photographs and try to spot the photographer? In almost all YT issues where they show a lovely tablescape, there's almost always going to be a tiny view of the photographer and or their studio equipment being reflected off a silver spoon or gold vase or something!

That's true about stock images lacking soul too.

I really don't like how people drop their standards when it comes to AI. Common AI image issues (like the messed up fingers and the weird hybrid objects) are in a lot of ads these days.

It’s crazy how people pay so much for agencies and then accept such subpar quality. Are they blind?

My filter blocks skin tones, so I guessed based on hair and sometimes eyes and teeth that weren't blocked. I got most correct. AI people usually had their hair too neat to look real.

YES!! I'm also a photographer and used to enjoy dong that especially in the Yom Tov issues!
I also got these AI images right, its not just about the quality but also face structure and details. I have worked extensively with AI too and can really get the frustration of a poorly turned out image when generating it! So I see the flaws.
The general public wont though, unless they are sticklers for details.
