Agreed I would let her pick from safe options. Realistically, a lot of kids in this age group wear water type shoes daily as their camp shoes. I buy a pair that fits well as a second summer shoe (I am not doing Shabbos shoes at this age); it doesn't have to be expensive, but stays on well, and then there are two options- whicj is nice for choice and for if a sneaker gets lost, etc.

Why?
With safe shoes that's aren't as comfortable to climb around with the toddler can decide they don't want them agina the next day or still decide to wear them again the next day and eventually, with guided reflection, realize that it's not worth it for them
