hey in my house growing up we all ironed our own stuff ... just teaching same to the kiddos ... and it works ... dd can iron her pleats back into her uniform now - I think everyone else forgot they even have pleats ... but when one is lazy I think they hope the creases disappear Rolling Eyes

It's very simple mimivan...during Shana Rishon I ironed a few times to do something special for him (I had already told himI rarely ironed and didn't really know what to do with shirts..) and he just shrugged, shook his head and it became an understood thing that he would do his own ironing.

There are many housework items I ignore, shrug off and feel very guilty about that I don't have time to do...Ironing is not one of them.

Dh uses that downy spray and says it works fine for those lightly wringkled shirts. Also, try looking for cotton-polyester blends. 100% cotton is a wrinkle magnet.

As fr the mil...lalalalala smile and nod, that's nice. lalalal

the only way shirts are kept in that "less wrinkle" "no wrinkle" fashion is if they go in the dryer and immediately hung up ...

I come from a family where my mom evens irons socks! but then again, I put more things in the dryer than she does.

DD likes to iron, though . . just wait, OP, if dh really wants something ironed, maybe a kid will do it.

hey people in the same family can be oh so different ... anyways why wait for the kid ... let him learn once and for all and do it himself ...

Me too, CM (while my mom didn't quite get to socks)... I'm glad one other person irons here (although I'm sure you would have a thing or two to teach me about ironing)

hey we have our ironing board and iron always ready to go ... we just mostly all do our own stuff ... help each other when we can ... "it's better to teach a person how to fish"

I used to give everything that needed to be ironed to the dry cleaners but now I started ironing to save some cash. it's not too bad if you keep on top of it. I generally have about 10 shirts at any given time waiting to be ironed but if you do 2 at a time it'll take about a half hour but then at least dh has something to wear until I get to the next ones.
dh doesn't have time to iron his own stuff, and I don't really mind the chore. it's mindless work so I listen to a tape.

It's all about the dry cleaners..I'd just rather spend my time doing something else, ironing is something that I don't do and my husband always knew that. When we got engaged, my mil bought us a fancy commercial steamer so that we could take care of wrinkles without actually ironing. THe steamer is amazing, but I never use it, DH always does my few random skirts and his own few things. But for button down shirts...it's all about the drycleaners.

We've always used dry cleaners. We were trying to cut costs but I cut out the cleaning lady rather than the dry cleaners. The cleaning lady is very nice but she was more expensive. I have one of those fold up ironing boards and I don't even know where it is! I do have a small iron which I've used... once maybe. It's somewhat tempting to want to do my ironing but first I have to get a schedule together to keep the housework under control!

my husband wears button down shirts every day and really takes pride in his clothes. he wears good quality clothes. his shirts always need to be ironed. sometimes I send them to the dry cleaners and sometimes I do it myself. if he needs a shirt and there are none ironed and I cant do it, he will do it himself. he loves the feeling of crisp shirts all starched up. I live in argentina and we bring starch here from the us. one of the first things we bought here when was a good iron. I really dont mind ironing his shirts bc I know how good it makes him feel and how much he appreciates me doing it.

but....

if it doesn't bother your husband to wear unironed shirts, then there is no reason you should be ironing and u are definitely not a bad wife!

How do you starch shirts? (I probably sound so spoiled!) That's one of the reasons why DH wants to go to the dry cleaners.

BasHInda, some have their cleaning lady also iron shirts. You can use spray starch at home on them.

although nothing compares to the stiffness when a shirt comes back from the dry cleaners, niagra spray starch is really good. I use the heavy duty one.

OP I must admit, I've never ironed a shirt either since we got married.

I make it a point not to buy for myself shirts that need ironing.

At the beg, once a week, he'd iron enough shirts for himself that he'd need. Or.. we'd send them to the cleaners!!

Now we have a cleanign lady doing it, such a relief!

Am I terrible too? What

I must be a terrible wife too because I don't even own an iron. Although I do have an ironing board. Confused
Hubbys shirts get sent to the cleaners..... What

If something needs a quick steam he will hang it in the bathroom while he is showering.

I don't often wear blouses, but if I do, they're wrinkle free . . they're not as soft & comfy as plain cotton, though . .

the drycleaners do not always get out the dirt ... but they do iron well ... however - I scrub the shirts clean and then while a little damp spray with starch and iron ... just as wonderfully crisp ... when I do it if I do it - for ds or uniform shirts or an occassional blouse ...
