Whenever we travel out of town for a simcha, I always pack along food for my kids. Actually for dh and I too. I don't rely on anyone else feeding my family, it's my job to do that. My little kids anyway can't wait til 7, 8, or even later to eat. I try to pack along not such messy food and have everyone wear a sweatshirt in the car so they don't get their clothes dirty.

And that's great. If you could afford it. But for someone who has no money and now has a whole wedding plus expenses to pay for, this is just another expense they don't need.

My Rov told us that the majority of families- over 70% come on to some kind of assistance to afford to make a wedding. Most people don’t have 65k to 95k to spare. Some get major help, others do tiferes Devorah likalah or other gemachs or organizations. Sometimes the ship or neighborhood will help out.
Would you want the baalei simcha to tap tzedaka funds to make sure you have hot food by the vort? Effectively, that is what would happen , even if technically they are paying for the vort and coming into a gemachs or other assistance elsewhere in the process.
