if you know how to make a slip knot you're good to go. get a crochet pattern book. it should have detailed explanations of all the stitches in the back. experiment a bit.

I finally got some time to sew -- by sending my kids out for sewing lessons, no less!
So I made a few hats/turbans using this pattern:
Butterick Patterns
I made Views C and D, and the results were great. I used scraps of fabric from other projects. BTW, the website claims this pattern is out of print, but I purchased it at a local fabric store quite recently -- for about $5.
I have not figured out how to make these out of beans, but maybe Clarissa and others can help out!

Thanks. It actually isn't so hard to do. Pin material over existing shape of chair inside-out and then sew. I made the seat cushion with a separate zippered cover but you don't have to. It is not that professional but then again, it didn't cost much and she loves it. When I finish her whole room, I'll post it. I'm attempting to paint it lavender with hot pink accents with a princess bed if I can build one. I just hope it is ready before she outgrows the princess stage.

It's never too late for a project! I often do stuff that I'll never use really. I could always give it away. The point is that I learn how to do it. If I have to spend money on it, I really hope to use it but often I have scraps of stuff that I use.
As soon as I finish one project, I'm dreaming about the next. I only have a few minutes here and there so it takes me forever to complete something. Still, my dreams keep me going, especially when life takes it's toll.

I see white triangles in between the black design - only the background is the same colour ...

I love this thread!
I've been itching to sew something myself, but I don't have a machine. This is so inspiring!!
