I'll have to take a better picture on a colored surface. The triangles are a beige mesh fabric over a beige regular fabric and the vest top also has the same triangles on the sides. I made it convertible for maternity as well. When I walk, the triangles are not as big and you don't see it spread out like in the picture.

Here's my newest jumper dress with matching purse and hair scrunchy made out of a stretch cordoroy that was a dream to work with. She LOVES hot pink BTW. The pink top was bought.
I made up the design and the hot pink used on the dress was the underside of the black/pink fabric made of a stretch twill. The black rose trim was a gift a store threw in when I bought fabric.

Mandksima, I'm not crazy over hot-pink but the style is interesting. Is it supposed to be high-waisted?

Did you make the purse too?

I'm not crazy over hot pink either but the main reason I need to sew for her is that I am not finding anything that fits her on the rack. She is only 8 but the size of an 11-12 year old. She has had a few stomach area surgeries that cause her stomach to distend quite a bit. As if she is 6 months pregnant. Sometimes I find her the babydoll look but not often. I can't spend a lot on clothes for her as she outgrows them often. They just don't sell stuff for her that I don't have to alter a ton and that looks youthful.
So, I have to make things that are high-waisted and plenty of stomach wiggle-room. She fits women's clothing but not in the chest or shoulders or length. She sometimes fits junior plus size in the largest size but they don't really sell that here and if they do, only dowdy stuff that is certainly not pink or purple, my 8 year old's favorite colors.
I made the purse too - I don't think I would have found a match anywhere and that took minutes anyway. I offered her a matching headband or scrunchy and she chose scrunchy.

My dd made a play and she had to dress up from the late teens, early 20's. Of course I can't do anything simple, so I checked online and this is what I found pretty much on how they dressed. She was also supposed to me an older lady and they wore dark clothing.
She doesn't really look like that . She actually looks really scary.

SO...
Do any of you talented ladies live in Jerusalem???
Just a couple weeks ago, my husband asks me, "DW, why don't you sew? Wouldn't you love it?" and I'm like "Yes, dear! I would! But who will apprentice me?". So this has been lingering on my mind for the past month.
I'm very artsy, but never learned how to sew...and I'm dying for some nice soul to teach me how!
Anyone?

My first knitted hat!
I gave it to my coworker for his granddaughter because he was enamored by the hat. I thought the flower was too big.

I already posted this on its own, but I'm posting it here because I'm so proud of my mother. Yeah, my mother made it . It's a holocaust quilt.

my mother wrote: | This quilt is important to me, too, because it tells the story of my mother’s family during the Holocaust. As a religious Jew, who lost most of my family during that time, the naysayers (deniers, revisionists etc) hit a very sensitive cord in me.
How could someone say it all never happened when just from one family so many perished? But the point of the quilt is not about the loss but, rather, how many of us survive today to prove that we are still here and the master race is no longer.
The quilt represents my family’s struggle and triumph. The back of the quilt shows the darkness, on the bottom, with the names of those who were killed and then it blends to the light, on top, with the names who survived, and their children, grand-children and great grand-children. |
