does anyone know if the person who names a baby girl at the torah must be a shomer shabbos jew. and what if they arent, and she was already named?

doesn't the father name her? if the father is not shomer shabbos... well, I guess it's a question of whether a non- shomer shabbos can get an aliya.

I would think it counts based on that a non frum person counts for a minyan, I really think that would apply here, but I'm no rabbi.

by us, the baby is named at the first opportunity. sometimes the dad is in the hospitalwiththe mother so the zeyde does it.

I didnt know this.
why in the world did my husband tell another related man to do it then when he was in shul at the time anyway!!
and this person not even shomer shabbos completely.
I am upset.

don't worry about it - once a name is read by the torah it is 100% valid.
