My son turned 3 in the summer and needed to be trained for cheder, so we did it, no problem. it took about two weeks and he was basically trained. for the first week of school he didn't pish even once into the toilet, but ever since then he's been accident-free at school (although there are some days he doesn't go there at all, when he comes home, he goes first thing, and wow, there is alot!). Anyways, I've gotten so used to this problem that it hasn't even occured to me that it was a problem until I was talking to someone about it. That the fact is, even though he is 'trained' and doesn't usually have accidents, he never goes on his own initiative. If I ask him if he needs to go, offer him a treat and take him, he goes. if its shabbos and we aren't home and I'm busy and off schedule and forgot, he has accidents. he only goes when I tell him and remind him. he also only goes if he gets a treat, even though its been 3.5 months now. and he doesn't make bm in the toilet. he usually makes bm in his diaper at night, or sometimes occasionally in his underwear. he seems to know once he is going, and if he has an accident and I don't realize and ask him if he wants to go he says 'I pished already'. but he doesn't seem to know before. is this normal?
