Toilet training for 2 year old boy

It’s been a while since I toilet trained a kid, and even longer since I trained a boy. My just about 2 year old is showing clear signs of being ready- tells me when he’s wet or dirty, has interest in sitting on the toilet….
How do I train him? He’s very verbal, but I don’t think he recognizes yet when something is going to come out. Should I leave him diaperless, or should I just take him to the bathroom a few times throughout the day? Open to any tips!

I liked the tip I got when I was training my oldest
you give them lots of liquids in interesting containers- try to make it exciting to drink a lot. that will make them need to use the bathroom. devote a day to just be busy drinking drinking (a few colors drinks, in any kind of dish/spoon/container) and keep taking to bathroom
after a day he should really be getting it

I just trained my first child, he was almost 2.5
Took off diapers during the day completely.
Set a timer for 30 min and took him every time timer rang.
Gave tons of positive reinforcements and treats.
It took a few days of me being exhausted but it worked, I didn't believe it will.

Hopefully your son will realize sooner than later what is happening. And don't make a big deal about accidents...

At that stage, expect the process to take longer. He may master the concept in a few days, but it can take a lot longer before he stops having any accidents.

Thanks for the tips! A few more questions: what is the point of training underwear? Should I go for it now, with the understanding that it might not happen or it might take time, because he’s so young? Or should I wait until he is a little bit older? I know there are pros and cons of both….

I found the book "Potty Training in 3 Days" by Brandi Brucks to be very helpful. I did not follow her method to the t, but there were lots of helpful tips.

Thanks! I’m going to check it out. Are there any Jewish books about toilet training? Something that I can read to him while he’s in the bathroom?

Do you send to playgroup or is he home with you all day?
I find that,at that age, the mothers are more trained than the kids.
If a kid keeps himself dry because his mother takes him to the bathroom every 30 minutes, he's not actually trained. Might work at home but not in playgroup!
Toilet training should not take more than 3 days, if it does it means kid is not ready!
As said above give lots of liquids, freeze pops, box drinks, juice... Until he gets the idea!!

I trained my oldest (a girl) just under two and the first day was terrible!
I left her in a long shirt and brought FB t her to the bathroom very often and gave a treat each time, and she still only peed on the floor! Day 2 it CLIcKED and by day 4 we were good to go.
For my son I did a bit older and it worked similarly. IMO you need to devote a full 4 days that you can be home to focus on this one task alone.
In my sons case he was a bit scared of the toilet and I gave him incentives the weeks before training to just sit in the toilet before I would put him in the bath

there are also a book called training in less than a day.. its fabulous too
in my experience when I started with my first boy at 2.6 it took him quiet a while... by my second I trained my son at 2.8month and he was train in one day and even for the night too.. really it depends of child...

I've definitely seen, but do not remember the publisher. I'm thinking it was Feldheim, Menucha Publishers would also be something to try
