The title says it all. I had to throw out my kneidels (I was haing a large family as guests for friday night) bh the rabbi said we could eat the soup.
They were little white worms with black heads in the bottom of the bowl where I had made the matzo balls. It was american kneidel mix - I usually keep it in the freezer but this packet I had left on the counter for a couple of weeks.
So beware!!

Why? It's not their fault it got sent to an Israeli climate. Anything with flour in needs to be refrigerated here, or...

I would still complain as it is a sealed plastic packet inside and that shouldn't happen. The Israeli brands stay on the supermarket shelf for months and I never thought of refrigerating them if unopened. I'd never have any leftover fridge/freezer space if I put every little thing in there. What about unopened crackers, etc? They could get buggy but I'd never freeze them or refridgerate.
Anyway, gross.

Halacha is halacha. I'd probably eat the soup too after looking carefully. You've eaten grosser things in restaurants that you never knew about I'm sure. I'm sure the soup was tastier than usual anyway.

With worm flavor, not worms themselves. If her rav said it's okay, then he must approve of the flavor.

Couldn't say that as yourself, huh ?
The funny thing is I ended up not eating it because there wasn't enough. I thought about throwing it out anyways but thats where emunas chachamim comes in - if the rabbi said you can eat it you can and thats all there is to it. In fact had I thrown it out I may hae been guilty of bal tashchis

Oy! That must have been rough for you!
Rav Vaye holds that those mixes should be checked as well as regular matzoh meal.
