Ds is growing out of the short picture books. He likes books that tell stories from tanach (story of Dovid and Golias) or funny stories about kids. Anyone have recommendations for what we can get for him?

When my kids were at that stage, I read them all the magic treehouse and a-z mystery books which kept them very interested. The only issue is that now that they are reading themselves they already know all these books...although they will sometimes reread them anyway
