Landline through internet

We used to have magic jack, worked great but my kids like to call the loop and for some reason hotline numbers are considered international minutes so I have to pay $15 for a certain number of minutes. It wasn’t lasting more than a couple weeks so wasn’t worth it. Then I switched to ooma- they assured me that the loop phone number wasn’t considered international minutes. So now it works to call the loop but instead I’m having such a frustrating issue that the loop doesn’t consistently pick up what my kids press in response to a question/prompt. (If the answer is 10, they type 10 and it says wrong answer). I have spent a long time on phone with both ooma and loop trying to figure out why it does this. I checked the tone setting on the phone, dtmf etc… and I’m getting no where. At this point I might just switch to a different provider but don’t want Verizon (my cell service) cuz that is very expensive. I’ve heard obi with google voice doesn’t work anymore. Any other ideas? Any experience with this? Thanks for all advice.

Thanks, just looked that up- seems like a mobile plan. I do have a lg phone with tracphone plan that I renew when we need another line but I would like to have the house phone as the primary landline not a cell phone.
