Hi! My son is outgrowing our neighborhood camp, going into 3rd grade. I am looking into the camps in Lakewood but know nothing about them. Can anyone share what camp they send to, and what they like about it? For me, the important things are that the environment should be safe and healthy, the boys should have a great time, there should be good communication with parents and someone available to reach out to if a problem arises, and hopefully long hours. Thanks!

What area do you live in? A lot of people who are open to any real day camp will choose one that is closer to their home. Camp chevra is on cross, so many people in Jackson and surrounding areas will send there. They also start earlier than others (double check, maybe it changed), so working moms may needs that convenience. There are a few camps in South Lakewood like chevra (cheder building), blev echad (ytt), and kevutza (tashbar). These are just a few examples, there are plenty more camps in other areas.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! What type of crowd is Chevra? I was also considering camp Pelah and Kulam Ahuvim, may be Kesher. Not sure, though, which are more/less yeshivish, more/less organized, etc. Any feedback/recommendations on that?

Chevra is on Vassar
Chaveirim is on Cross
I'm not positive about types, but pretty sure all the camps you mentioned (and these 2) overlap to some degree.
At that age, I had my son ask his friends where they were going, and sent to the camp where he knew the most kids.

We send to eitz chaim. Might be what you're looking for. Run with women staff and great communication, they were able to deal with a very specific issue my son has with a lot of compassion. Not sure until what age they go until though.
