Dd is thinking of attending the Bernard Revel School and we have some questions:
1. Did you go for a Masters or a PhD and why?
2. How long did it take?
3. In retrospect are you glad you did it?
4. What sort of job did you get afterwards and what jobs did others you knew there get?
5. What advice do you have for someone who is applying?

Hi, I did a dual masters with Revel (focus on tanach) and Azrieli (education program) about 8 years ago.
I ended up continuing in Azrieli for a doctorate, so the Revel degree feels superfluous… while I enjoyed the intellectual aspect of it, there was a lot of biblical criticism/ kfira going on in the Bible department. If you want to teach, Azrieli is a frummer environment and great training.
I would only recommend Revel for Tanach if you have a specific interest in a topic and want to persue a doctorate (think, becoming a specialist on Radak.)
the Jewish history department is a bit different, that one seems more worthwhile, and easier to navigate religiously. Feel free to pm me
