You have to do what works for you…no one has to see your room.
(It wouldn’t work for me, I would want to sleep next to dH it woukd be too far for me).
Can you get a smaller bed to fit?
Eta also you can ask a Rav what’s the minimum space you can have between the beds, some say just a foot is good.

Why can they be on the side of the door near each other. It wouldn't work for me this way.

We have been sleeping like that for years now, works better with a crib too. But we need to sleep separately to get better sleep

You do you, whatever works best for YOU. Nobody else needs to see your room, and if they do--so what? How you set up your room is none of their business and you have no need to explain or justify. So they'll think you don't "sleep" together? Let them. Most people are paranoid about having their beds together lest G-d forbid people think they DO "sleep" together.

Note: this is not drawn to scale but hopefully gives the picture

Maybe u can fit them side by side if u turn them facing the other direction, on the left wall

We tried that, unfortunately the door won’t open fully and just bumps into the bed which really bothers me even more.
Thanks everyone for the replies! Makes me feel better about arranging it how it works best:)

Is it possible to change the direction of the door so it swings outward out of the room?
Or maybe to put both beds against the right wall and put a sliding door on the closet so you can still access it
