My teenage son complained that his shirt underarms are yellow and I should spray oxi. I never did spray under the arm. But here's the crazy part. I got a new cleaning lady, and she does. Is it possible that somehow the spraying of Oxi turned them yellow? Since this was never an issue before. (and he's not changed body wise in any way)

It only stains once the sweat has built up after multiple uses and washes (that's when you "see" it).

Here's instructions.

You wrote in that post that the best bet is learning to care for it so it doesn't build up. How should white shirts be washed so the stains don't build up?
Thanks!

Somehow my husband’s shirts never turned yellow on the underarm. But my son’s shirts got very bad. Asked my brother what he does, since DH doesn’t wear white shirts during the week anymore. And we figured out the issue.

My son changed to wearing short sleeve undershirts like my husband always wears. Viola! New batch of shirts are almost 6 months old, and they were work exclusively with short sleeve undershirts. Perfectly white.

If it's brand new and nothing has built up, any pre-treating spray sprayed inside and outside armpit of shirt when removing shirt before throwing in hamper.

That does make sense, except here, he's been in white shirts for 3 years now, and first time we're encountering the issue so something strange. dunno. it's just shirts.
I put some oxi powder, used tide with bleach alternative, sprayed the underarms and whatever the results are, that's what they are. I don't have any more time than that lol

Between carpools has a solution to make and scrub on. My son’s shirts were horrible under the arms, and regular shout or oxi didn’t help, and their solution was magic! You can look it up on their website

Mix hydrogen peroxide, Dawn dishwashing detergent and water in spray bottle, and spray onto the yellow stains. Pour baking soda on top. Wear gloves and rub the baking soda into the sweat stains.
Let sit 24 hours. Wash in the machine as you usually do.
Repeat if necessary.
