Reach out to your school to request an evaluation. Once approved, it will be free

Your child won't get approved for speech just for that (im a therapist). Its a later developing sound

at what age if they still don't say it is it time for therapy? I had the same issue as a kid and went to speech therapy at around age 7-8. my bil had this with his daughter now and scared me to start earlier so it will be easier for the child...

The earliest I would make a child eligible for the R sound is 6. It is still normal at 5.

The doe will never approve a child for just r. You can try a clinic with insurance. But the doe wont approve it through them

Unless you have other concerns in regards to his speech and language, how child is doing in class etc it might not be worth it to do a whole eval. Where do you live?
It really depends on child. If I have a younger child who is stimulable for the sound we'll work on it, if not, I don't worry too much until later...
