I live in Bnei Barak, we have an amazing Soft Play here that’s government funded, costs 8 shekel per kid for 2 hours, but it’s only up to age 9.
One really good rule they implemented is a strict No Food or Drinks rule. The place stays really clean even with it being full of rambunctious kids daily.
I go about once every month or 2.

Please do share, I never heard of a soft play area in Bnei Brak, or maybe cuz I’m usually there summers and the parks are amazing so we’re outdoors.

First off- you guys are amazing. Seriously.

No one takes me seriously in real life about this. Ya ya nice idea and they move on. I'm appreciating all the feedback and advice.

So many questions.

1.Amother who tried this last year. SO interesting about the marketplace. I spoke to them at the VERY beginning about an indoor playground and they wouldnt even talk to me! they wanted it to be retail only. Ha. and then I remember hearing/seeing that there would be an indoor play space and I was so upset! and it still didn't happen and ive been wondering about it! so I guess that was you?
I hear about kids empire and skyzone.. I wonder how that will go over. how many non jews are in the monsey and surrounding areas that will keep it filled on saturday. I wonder. I know there is a way to have it run on shabbos by non jews, but I dont know the practical halacha.

2- q- with skyzone and kids empire coming to the marketplace (any idea when?), do you think monsey can still use an indoor playground (different than kid empire)? not in the marketplace, but somewhere in monsey? or the business will go straight there?

3- regarding the franchises- I really want to do it all my way. I don't want to just follow a different model. I have such a vision. I also don't want to give money to the owners!

4- more than anything I want it to be affordable. I totally get it! yes im out to make a profit. but I want it to work to have the constant flow of families coming b/c its afforadble. I wonder how to make that work?

5- how can I take this crazy big scale vision and dream that I have, and make it smaller so its more affordable..for me? I want it to be the "go to" place for... always! its thE place to go b/c its just that vibe, and has the perfect equipment and space etc.. but how do I make it smaller so it so its not such a massive investment? when people know its small, they know itll be a zoo on holidays/vacation/sunday and that also draws people away.

you don't get it guys, I really want this and I want to figure out how to make it happen

I guess it was me Smile all my friends were so upset for me that kids empire and sky zone are going there instead of us, and I honestly couldn't be happier. This wouldn't have ended well for us. That place is really not busy...

I do have another idea for you in the monsey area. I dont want to post under my username, so im not sure how you can reach out to me- but I do have an idea that you can possibly work with. Just beware, the rent is a killer.

We moved on and are working on something else so it's not shayach for us anymore

I’m not from Monsey so I wasn’t planning on Monsey (after the marketplace didn’t work out for us… gam zu right?) but I could reconsider! I made an email Monseybizidea@gmail.com
If you want email me there. I would love to hear from you there.

I’m not familiar with the five towns. They Dont have an indoor play area? Do you feel like there is a need? Would families go often?

Where is a location that works in that area?

I didn't read through the whole thread, so this may have been suggested- but an idea to make a place like this work for diff ages is to have a softplay alongside a ceramics painting room. I've seen this only once and it was great for families.

La la land in Boca is a fun indoor play place always busy. Also kids empire franchise is so fun!! My kids can spend hours in both places.

Many of them make money from birthday packages like others said also make money from selling food

How many of you would make a party in a place like this?

To me, it’s such a waste of money. I’m cheap like that. I always wonder who would spend on this. How much are you really willing to spend on a birthday?

I think you open a museum. Museums could get grants. Museums probably pay no taxes.

I take my children to the Brooklyn Children’s museum, it’s a huge indoor playground imho. Sensory, pretend play, A&C.

You have a space for traveling exhibits, so things are always changing.

You stay open super late on Chol Hamoed and yeshiva week etc.

Income:
membership, admission
Food court, party room
Grants, community sponsors
Additional charge activities (in winter BCM has air skating.) (NYHS has miniature golf)

What if it was $10/15 per month but only on weekdays? Weekends and holidays would be more.. would that entice you? Or weekdays are just not needed?

I'd love that. I'd pay $20-25 a month for just me and toddler for weekdays for sure! I'd hang out there at least 2x a week. And I'd love weekends too with the other kids.

Come open one in village of south blooming grove!
I have my 2.5 year old home with me all day. I know most of my neighbors send their kids to playgroup for this reason as I'm thinking of sending her out. The kid's bored. My other kids are out from 9 - 4:30. She naps from 1-3:30 at least. So I don't want to just send her out but I'm afraid I'll have to. She's lately bored from 10-1 and there is NOWHERE to go. She hates the grocery. She needs places to give off steam. I made a little indoor gym in my basement, we do lots of play doh and other sensory play, but it's not enough. In the summer, she just runs in the (gated) yard off my kitchen or splashes on a splash pad or water table. It's bliss!

If I had a place like what your thinking about within walking distance, is keep her home until September. (She turns 3 in July)

Do you know Turtleboo in Monsey? In what ways are you envisioning something similar or different?

Apparently it closed down, but would be good to know what worked and what didn’t.

It’s true if you’re in monsey-I always say Monsey is missing a museum. Especially if have cool sensory/science/history that appeals to variety of ages and can totally incorporate the indoor play!

What makes a place a museum?

You say Monsey needs this but is there commercial space for such a thing?

I'm so curious what you're working on now. You sound like such a go-getter, and I am impressed and fascinated (and maybe a little jealous of your ambition).

On another note, we looooooooved Turtleboo and my kids were very sad when they closed down.

I'm not sure but I think covid was the final straw. Gympros also closed at the same time.
