If there was an indoor playground near you, that catered to toddlers and bigger kids (younger teens?) how often would you go?

How much would you be willing to spend?

There used to be a soft play not far from our home. We used to go often on Sundays. It cost about $12 a kid.

I'm a cheapskate so you don't want to hear from me, but I'd only go if there was a monthly membership, something like $50-$75 for the family (or maybe $50 base membership and $10 additional for kids over a certain amount)

If you are in Lakewood, one is really lacking. I would say up to $12, but a reduced rate with a family of 4+. Ice cream kids was great, but they didn't maintain the place. It takes a lot of effort to replace or fix broken and missing items. I also liked that they had roller skating and arcades for the older kids.

Did the close down? Don't live in Lakewood but went there a few times when we visited.

Then you are exactly the person I’m looking for for advice!

Wood you go during the week or only on Sunday/vacation?

Do your mind telling me where you are located and if it’s a need in your area?

I would go for $5 a day per kid. I have two toddlers - 1.5 and 3 and they just need to run around and play with balls and stuff and they can’t because it’s cold. I would go often if it’s affordable. I’m in monsey.

I would go frequently for my younger kids. If it's nice. Also not too crowded which is kind of bad for your business model lol.

The cheaper it is the more often I'll go. So if it's $5 a kid I'd probably go at least once a week. At $20 a kid I would go rarely.

I'm assuming you're asking as a business idea. it's hard to make these work financially and especially in the Jewish community. One way that might work is if you have the play area designed for younger kids. Then for older kids you have a separate room or rooms and pay people to run activities. Simple things like simple crafts or games. It may sound more expensive because it's more staff, but it could save a lot of money on the expensive toys and wear and tear of older children.

Just an idea. I never did the research. But I'm never going to so enjoy.

I have one about 20 min away from me in Connecticut. It’s honestly I great option and my toddler loves it but it’s 16.95 per kid so it’s a bit pricey. I won’t take her on a regular Sunday, only on a vacation day when I want to make it a little more special. If it was $10 or under I would probably go a lot more often.

Yes business idea. Someone presented it to me recently with a very large sum of money to invest in it. He said I should do my research and see if I can make it happen.. and he’ll support it. Yikes!

So this is the start of my research.

I need places that is lacking such a thing.

Of course a place for toddlers only. And a bigger place for bigger kids. I have loads of ideas to make this bigger better and different than any indoor playground you’ve ever seen. But I can’t give all that info away here. Just trust me.

Now I need how much you’d be willing to spend?
Monthly membership?
Would you go during the week?
What if it was special pricing for weekday?
How else can I be profitable during the week?
I don’t really want to do classes but I do think it’s a good idea. Just not for the type of place I’m envisioning.
Locations?
Give me whatever you got

Memberships are probably your best option. Automatically renewing. Then you make money on people who don't show up. And these things tend to be too expensive for people to choose to come on a random day if they didn't first commit to a membership. But if you have a membership they only have to decide once to sign up and then not cancel. It's a big difference if you know business.

Also, a lot of new business owners are very scared. People will steal their ideas. It's far less a concern in real life. You're the one doing the actual work and ideas alone don't make any money.

place near me (not frum area) has for every age in the same place. It's $25 per kid for month membership. If it's was $10 per kid per month, I'd keep a membership. At this price, it's a treat reserved for one or two months of the year that include a vacation.

How many of you would throw a birthday party in a place like this?
What would you want included in your party?

Where are you located?

I think it’s part “trauma” of one time giving over ideas to a group and before I knew it my idea became a reality for someone else. Not as big as this, but it kinda got me for life.

How can I get business during the week? Do I have to rely on non- Jewish business as well?

What if it was $10/15 per month but only on weekdays? Weekends and holidays would be more.. would that entice you? Or weekdays are just not needed?

While in theory its nice to have separate spaces for different ages it never works out like that.
You nedd to have someone making sure older kids dont go into younger kids area, but sometimes they are accompanying the toddler.
A parent cant watch their kids if in totally separate areas.
Do not charge for parents.

This kind of place is opening soon in Jackson, Nj If that’s where you’re looking to open it. It’s under construction in the Stop & Shop Plaza. I believe it’s a chain like urban air, sky zone kind of place but geared towards toddlers.

I’ve been to places where the toddler section is respected. Yes someone older would accompany them but it doesn’t turn into an older kid space. Somehow it works. Wouldn’t be a different room, just a different section.

I’ve been to turtleboo years ago. Would be totally different in every way from it. Would love to speak to the owner
