Anyone else at HAC not going away and want to call with me?

We aren’t going away, almost never do but I don’t think calling or complaining would make any difference. It seems like 75% of the city leaves town/ travels for vacation.

Right exactly. I tried once already by myself. It fell on deaf ears

I send to HAC, and I hope to go away this year (I say hope because I haven't cleared it with my bosses yet but it's kinda too bad if they don't like it because again, childcare), but I totally understand the frustration. I can technically do some work remotely and I will, and BH I have some wiggle room in terms of the financial cost to me taking off. But we are going to visit a great grandparent who can't travel as well as grandparents, and while our trip won't be super exciting the mear change of location will be the excitement. But we don't do it every year, some years we have stayed home and done not much. It's also particularly hard in Cleveland where you can't rely on the weather being good enough to do outdoor things. My kids enjoy places like Get Air and the BA Sweetie candy store or museums when we stay local.

Ya it’s hard with the weather.

What if I’m working, what kind of memories are we having then?

OP I feel you, and I definitely agree that this thread is split between those that don't work and those that need to work. Can you make some sort of incentive program and take off 1-2 days of work? maybe something like this - you tell your older kids that if they babysit your youngers while you work (and bribe the younger ones as well with candy) you will take them to stay overnight in a waterpark. some of these local waterparks are cheap for a one night stay with access to the waterpark included. if you can work, and spend nothing for 5 or 6/7 days of the vacation, it may be worth it to spend all the money on one night. And if your teens can watch the youngers at the waterpark, you might not need to take off any work at all

We just hosted for Chanukah. No one has off again the same time as us, so no one is able to come

Maybe. I’m confused about how the teens can work at the water park and I don’t need to take off part. If I’m not actually at work I don’t get paid.
Maybe I can. Still is the fact that I’m forced to spend money, but I gotta live with the reality.

It's just a large candy store, but I believe they are the supplier of candy for the area. They have a TON there and a lot with Hashgacha. You can do a sort of Kosher scavenger hunt and end off with getting soda (in a glass bottle!) at the cafe. For us it was fun to make our own custom assortment of Jelly Bellys.

Be happy. In london it's TWO weeks!
But in the summer we only have 5 weeks vacation...

4 days or a long extended weekend is a perfect amount of time for a break. One week + is too much, especially since we also have long Succos and Pesach breaks.

No I work directly with people (something like a case manager), can’t do it remote.
