There are plenty but it’s unlikely someone would buy a kindle just for that.

Yes it’s a giveaway.
If you’re concerned that they realize you’re reading non Jewish books, aren’t you also concerned they will judge you for having an internet connected device?

Nope. I have a smart phone and laptop that are filtered. I have no concerns as everyone knows I’ve got internet.
No one knows that I devour secular books…
Husband bought it for me as a gift… but I’m afraid it’s going back. He told me to do as I think makes sense and I am not looking for my kids to know, or share with their classmates,,,

Would you keep it in your bedroom? Why do your kids need to know you have it? And anyway who cares if they do know? Will they get kicked out of school for you reading non Jewish books?

My husband gave it to me in front of them. So they’re up with it. They know about it even if I don’t take it out. My big ones can’t wait to see the Jewish comics on it lol.
They won’t get kicked out of nothing. It’s not something I want my kids knowing cuz it’s not something I’m looking to share with them. End of story
Thanks guys for ur replies.

Seriously, what’s with the hugging?
You have something to say, say it.
You think I’m too frum and look down at me? You judge me I’m a hypocrite? Why? You know me at all?
I’m legit not harming you or anyone I know. So what’s up with being able to ask a simple question on imamother these days?

I love my kindle. I can read my books and no one knows what I'm reading. I would rather my kids see me with an ereader than see what the real book is.
And it can be yours alone. I have mine passworded so the kids can't get onto it.

It’s still better than having a bunch of books lying around I’d be more worried about my kids finding those, plus getting them into the house is harder

I hear that. So far my big ones are boys that read mostly Yiddish and they don’t realize my books are not Jewish. I also toss them once I’m done reading them

If they hadn’t seen the kindle to begin with I’d think about it. But now they’ve seen it and know what it is and all, so I’d prefer not to have it for now. When they get older, they’ll realize what it was all about so it doesn’t help me even if it’s passworded.
Otoh, I wish we had better Jewish literature so that I could satisfy my voracious readers mind…

Okay. They’ll realize. And?

Perhaps you can return The Kindle and then either repurchase it so they don't know which. I don't know if I even like that suggestion
Or you can always purchase a tablet and download the Kindle app. I don't know if it's the same or not but an option.

And I’m simply not looking to share that information with my children. I’m not looking for them to be privy to the fact that I read these books.
That’s all.
I’m sure you wouldn’t mind, and that’s totally sensible. I personally would.
That’s all.
Two different ways of mind. Can we handle that?

I was thinking of that but I don’t run a very strict home where my kids can’t come into my room or closet, and it won’t work.
Regarding the app- can I buy the app on my phone?

Fair enough. Then if you feel strongly that you don't want your kids to know, I guess that's your answer. Until you decide they are able to understand
