BE"H due this month with a baby girl. We're living in such strange times, the war in e"y isn't over, public opinion is openly against us...please suggest girls names that fit the time, with messages of geula. I usually have strong feelings about names but am totally blank this time around. (No Yiddish names)

Ultimately we went with a joy name, as she brought joy in such a dark dark time.

Ruchama (Gd originally instructed her father to name her lo-Ruchama --not given mercy -- but when the Am repented her name was changed to Ruchama -- given mercy)
Emuna (faith)
Shlomtzion (Jewish queen, Israel had prosperity and relative peace under her reign)
Elisheva (my Gd promised, reminds us of Gds promise to Israel)
Nili - acronym Netzach Israel Lo Ishaker
Yehudit - Heroine from the Book of Judith, around the time of the Maccabees
Devora or Yael (Gd used them to win a major war for Israel)
Any of the 4 Imahot, because their righteousness, because it's said that reminding Gd of the righteousness of our early ancestors causes Him to show us mercy on their account even when we don't deserve it (sorry, I don't have the source for this, heard it during a lecture, normal Orthodox rav). Also because using original names merited the exodus from Egypt.
Miriam, Yocheved, Shifra (midwife) because they were righteous and merited to be brought out of oppression.

2 questions:
1. I see "Nili" as an acronym listed on many Jewish lists. But I've never heard of used in real life. In mainstream BY circles in America, is this used?
2. Interesting about using the imahos names to call on their zechus. I'm named a certain name for that reason, too. However, when you say that in mitzrayim they used original names...we really do my see that. When the names of benai Yisrael are listed, we don't see the names of the Avos and shevatim repeatedly used, at all really. Even as we go through tanach, we don't have multiple people throughout nevi'im with their names. It doesn't seem to be what is meant by "not changing their names"

There were obviously more names in rotation than just the 7 names of avis and imahos. Not all of them turned up in every page of Tanach

Yes but in general there really aren't many repeated names. The names of the nesi'im and the names of the the 70 people who went to mitzrayim...the dor dayah...Dovid Hamelech's lineage and children...the nevi'im...it's all new names. If you know of any, I'd be interested to hear. I don't think it's something we see in tanach. With some exceptions, like Baruch Ben Nerya.

1. I don't know. I'm DL and live in Israel. I did know one Nili IRL, a likeable and talented young woman. She was DL. She spoke English, but I don't know whether she was born in Israel or USA.
2. Very interesting. Maybe the meaning is that they gave names in their native tongue rather than giving whatever Egyptian names were stylish amongst the g0yim in Egypt at the time?

There's one in my daughter's grade, also the child of American olim. MO, though, not Yeshivish.
