My toddler's babysitter uses my house for the babysitting group.
Her home is too small and I get free babysitting for providing the house, which is great!
At this stage, I think its fine that he is using his toys and is in his environment for the whole morning, and we make sure to get out in the afternoon.
For next year, I have the option to keep this babysitter (who is absolutely wonderful) in our house.
My son will be almost 2.5 when the year starts which makes me think that its probably healthier forhim to leave the house in the morning and be in a new environment, than to stay home and have the group come to our home.
Curious what other people think.
The group in my house would be preferable for me because of the major cost benefits.

To add- I work out of the house and leave him every morning when the babysitter comes (9-2)

I run a group for 1-2 year olds in my own home. It is nice for a 2 year old to leave the house I guess, but I don't think they gain enough from it that it's worth paying so much more for it. The important things are that the kid has friends coming over every day and that the babysitter is good.

I think there's very little benefit from being in a different physical space that you aren't already gaining from him being around other people in your home. I would keep the arrangement if it's working well for you.

I think the point of getting a toddler out is to give him a chance to socialize. He’s already getting that

Thanks for the responses-
What do y'all think about the same Morah for two years straight, any negative to that?
She is a really warm and loving Morah

Honestly I don’t think that it’s that big of a deal.
If the babysitter has lots of fun activities appropriate for your kids age it sounds ideal!!
Wait: just saw the follow up- at that age having the same morah is actually great! She is probably a really strong attachment figure for your little one- and that’s definitely a good thing! Really stable relationships like that and lots of love and consistency actually help children become more independent as they get older. Wishing you lots of nachas.

I think that it's amazing let him form attachment to a caregiver. I look for babysitters for my kids that will work for more than a year much healthier if it's an option (and if they are good)

It’s actually very healthy for children to stay home until they are 3. I have the same arrangement as you op, the babysitter comes to my house with other babies and in September my baby will be 2.5 and keeping the same arrangement

can you explain why its good for a kid to be home until 3- even if you are not the caregiver?

You’re calling her a babysitter, is she going to be running a babysitting group next year with all ages or a playgroup with similar aged kids to your child. I would only keep if home if it’s a structured playgroup with age appropriate activities not a free play geared towards babies.

I have the exact same issue for next year and am trying to figure it out too. Child will be 2.5 and I'm trying to decide what to do with them next year.

Children feel safest in their home, and especially if your child will have the same babysitter next year he already feels safe with her. Staying home is much less stressful for a young child therefore healthier for their development
