When I put them away, even if they're freshly laundered, my sheets and pillowcases have a stale smell when I take them out months later. How do I get them to smell freshly laundered or clean after put away for weeks or months?

Scent packets between the linens, or dryer sheets

sometimes I put the linen in the dryer with a dryer sheer for a dew minutes. It freshers it up and also helps take out any creases.

My grandmother used to keep scented bars of soap between the linens. I think that's why

. I do this with everything, sometimes using just plain ivory soap if I don't have anything else. When the soap gives up its scent it gets demoted to serve its original intended function.

You sandwich the soap bar between the linens, without any wrapping around the soap bar?

It doesn't leave a residue stain on the linen?

I leave the soap in its wrapper.

And the smell goes through? Interesting. I'll try it.

Yes my mother does this! It works if the soap is wrapped in paper not tight plastic.

You can use a laundry scent booster in the wash.

. Paper is porous. Haven't you ever passed the soap aisle in a drugstore? The smell is so strong it makes me sneeze. And the really sharp cashier in my supermarket always wrapped the bar soap in a separate plastic bag so that the smell wouldn't infiltrate the food.

Scented fabric softener. Lots of it. It makes the whole room smell like heaven.

Is the closet musty or smelly?
Start there, clean out and if there is a reason for the musty smell, take care of it.
Perhaps buy heavy plastic large containers and story your linens in them in the closet.
Def put scented dryer sheets in the containers.
If they still smell, are you sure they are totally dry, completely dry before storing?
