Dc is 7 and I've exhausted all options. He's constipated and pieces randomly fall out of him. We've done miralax for a few years and all other options different g.I's mentioned that didnt help. Will dc ever heal and learn to make regularly on his own? We feel done fighting and living this all day. Can we let it take its course?

Have you tried the alternative route at all? Is this something you're interested in?

Has he been disimpacted? That means going on high levels of movicol (or the equivalent where you are) until his poop is type 7 (check the chart online) and then slowly lowering to a maintenance dose long term until you can wean him off.

It can look like many different things but in my mind there'd be diet changes to remove inflammatory foods that are damaging to the gut, lots of probiotics and fermented foods, and supplements that help with digestion and motility such as magnesium, b vitamins, betaine, digestive enzymes, maybe a couple more.

Behavioral therapy. It's hard, but when I started worrying how he'll lein at his Bar-mitzvah with soiled underwear.... Hard work, but it works.
