My child is currently very picky and rejecting most foods. I want to get a good multivitamin until I get therapy to try to get my child to try new foods.
Do you have any vitamins that are known to be well absorbed by the body? Also do you have any tips in general? I'm at a total lost. I tried making games, offering prizes, but child rejects everything except for a handful of safe foods.
Any helpful advice is appreciated also if you know any therapists that treat eating disorders in children in Brooklyn please post thank you!

How old is the kid? And are you certain it’s an eating disorder?

Did you evaluate with a feeding therapist? I think there is a place on Long Island that deals with toddler and child eating disorders but I don’t know the name.

I'm pretty sure, almost has fear of food that doesn't want to try. Like will throw up if puts foods that doesn't like in the mouth. If it's a safe food will eat normally. It's so hard. This is a 5 year old, still hanging on to many toddler foods... I'm desperate but it has to be close to Brooklyn because I don't drive.

It sounds sensory. It also sounds like it’s a bit of a control battle. A child can survive on cereal and milk. Try not to be so nervous and give him space.

There are speech therapists who are also trained as feeding therapists they work with this. Contact a referral place for a recommendation.

There are toddler eating disorders.
She should rule it out before assuming it’s sensory. It might actually be serious.

I want to get my child evaluated, but until I am able to, what do you recommend in terms of vitamins? Or if any of you had success with helping a child eat, what did you do and how long did it take?

Even cereal sometimes the child won't eat or eats very very little. Even sweets or things most children eat, this one rejects. That's why I am desperate.

Thank you, I will look into this. Do you have personal experience with them?

I feel like it's psychological because doesn't have any issues chewing or eating if it's something the child likes so it seems to be some sort of anxiety related to trying something new, afraid of not liking it.

Sounds like ARFID. I wouldn’t get a multivitamin but rather specific vitamins in the right doses although not in a position to advise which ones.

I second ARFID. I was diagnosed with it as a teen.
Regarding multivitamins, you should ask in the health food store.

Agap’e by awaken nutrition is a good liquid multivitamin. It’s expensive. Order it online.

There’s also high calorie protein nutrition shakes - Kate Farm peptide is for kids. Then there’s standard 1.4 not sure if it’s for any age or for older

Thank you! What's the best flavor in your opinion for the shake?

How was your recovery process, if you are okay with sharing?

Correct. I have a few family members like this. And a child. What helped is to stop showing him that I want him to eat. I hid Cheerios on a dining room chair, pushed in all chairs so they are neat and clean and left the room and forgot about it. I checked later and he finished everything. I did this for a loooong time. It's very tricky because I couldn't do this with any food. I had to stick to Cheerios. I know it's not the healthiest but I had to focus on avoiding an eating disorder so I rather stuck with less for longer. In the end it helped because he eventually started trying more foods, mostly behind my back. I started when he was about 18 months and it took well into his childhood years. I remember going to my in-laws and someone telling my older child to make sure this kid eats the seuda. There was a cat race between the 2 until I realized what happened. I stopped it and said "I don't want you chasing him. I don't care if and what he eats or not". He's now BH an adult and eats fine bH, healthy. But the struggle then was a fine line between meeting his need and neglect, so I get you.

One of my niece was like that, got feeding therapy and bh much better today.
If I offered her some food at the shabbos table, she would cry!

OP I wouldn't look for the best multivitamin I would just look for the one your child is willing to take! Some of them taste horrible.
The uncle moishy vitamins taste like little candies. Not sure e much they are worth in terms of nutrition but I would try that first. Dr said it was fine.
