Can someone explain this please?

I always read here that davening doesn't help us get things. Meaning the people who daven more aren't healthier, wealthier, or have less problems in life. And I think this is true sha obvious if we look around us. Instead, davening is about connecting and having a relationship with hashem.

But then I (very) often see threads like this which say the exact opposite. They imply that we do daven for specific things and that davening helps.

Which is it?

Yes and no. There is no answer to this that can be nailed down or proven statistically.

If it makes you feel better, no one has been able to find this sourced in the Kedushas Halevi.
It's a nice sentiment but not actually brought down to start a philosophical inquiry into its potency.

The Kedushas Levi wrote more than one sefer that contains this teachings. Just because something isn't sourced in the Kedushas Levi, the most common of his seforim, does not mean that there's no source.

I'll try to get a source for this.

This isn't really a fair answer. It's really no then, correct?

In other words to say something might be true even though it can't be statistically proven because we haven't disproven it, is not logical.

This has always been very confusing for me from what I see here. Whenever the question is "does davening help achieve results", the answer is almost always no.

But I couldn't count the number of times when I've seen posters say the exact opposite by saying something like the op here said.

When we daven for something specific, we are asking Hashem for something. And sometimes the answer is yes and we get what it is we were davening for, whether it's a child, parnassa, shidduch, a new job, whatever it was. But other times, we daven and Hashem's answer is no. We don't know why the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no as we can't see the whole picture.
And sometimes we only see the results many years later. There are stories of people who davened for something and their child or grandchild benefitted from this.

Let me put it another way. Do people who daven and ask get a "yes" more than people who don't daven?

Are the people davening getting less sick? Fewer miscarriages? Less diseases? Less Covid? Less Tragedy? Less parnasah problems? I don't think we see this.

Yes of course davening works and you need to daven with this awareness! I have seen things that I davened for happen suddenly after I davened. Incredible things that came "out of the blue". It is the biggest "segula".
Hashem only brought rain once Adam davened for it. There are certain things we are meant to get that we only access with tefilla, once we daven for it.

Even if the goal of tefilla is not to get what you want, but to connect with Hashem, it doesn't take away from the results. And tefilla is the hishtadlus for bitachon.
(Now we also know that sometimes the answer is no)

If davening really works in a practical and noticeable way, wouldn't we see it?

Meaning we'd see people who daven more getting sick less. They wouldn't have suffered as much during covid. They'd have fewer tragedies. They'd have less parnassah issues. They shouldn't struggle in shidduchim.

And the flip side should also be obvious. Those who don't daven should be getting sick more. They should be struggling in all areas of life more than those who daven.

Besides for very narrow anecdotal examples, can anyone say we see this? Do people who daven c'vs get cancer less? is thee a single obvious example anyone can point to?
