Probably THE worst time to go on a trip if you don't like crowds.
What about snowtubing?
It isn't very overwhelming if you wait outside playing in the snow with the kids while having your better half wait on line for the tickets ect.
The rest is doesnt feel as crowded as say american dream, because its outside, and is less of a line then the ski lift.

OOh! Tough!
What's your budget?
Don't know if its the type, but if your family has a book series that they are really into you can have everyone help make a themed supper/ game night
Like if everyone is into Harry Potter or Lord of the rings or Dr. Suess
Let me know if I should go into details on how to do this

Go to the Poconos ( scranton area), get a cool airbnb cabin - something like this
https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms.....6cbf9
Day one - you drive up, bring some board games, old family movies, hot cocoa, smores in the firepit.
Fancy Panini for supper
Day two - Do a UTV tour or snowmobiles https://www.poconooutdooradventuretours.com/
Bring a crockpot so there is something warm and yummy ready when you get home
Day Three sledding ( I posted upthread how to find parks in PA), snowmen, and head home

I am sure you know better then I do - but I'll list some of the stuff we did. Most is touristy - I'm pretty sure you know about them
Buckingham Palace
Tower of London and Crown Jewels
Buckingham Palace + changing of the guards ( I bet you did this your whole childhood)
Trafalgar Square
London Eye
Windsor Castle
The British Museum
Greenwich Market
Old Spitalfields Market
Sky Garden ( we got drinks and it was really nice)
Natural History Museum
Victoria and Albert Museum (free)
Harry Potter Studio

You can definitely do snow tubing for that budget
You could also do something like the spy museum in the city and then walk thru Rockefeller center ( lego store, fao shwartz)
https://spyscape.com/tickets
Something like american dream or ice skating will be a mob scene....

Thanks so much for this!
I'd been meaning to do sky garden but forgotten, so thanks for that reminder!
I've never done the markets, will look into them.
Crown jewels is a good idea as well.
Would love to do Windsor castle but too far for now. Maybe as a chol hamoed trip.
Really appreciate it!

I would love to take my kids ranging from 1-12 somewhere nice. They are mostly lively boys I live in Lakewood, NJ. My budget is open. Can you suggest something a little out of the box for this lively little crew?

Oh love this thread..
Really want to go to a remote place in Vermont or new Hampshire or even upstate NY if its the right place. Driving up from monsey.. Want an airbnb cabin like feel with things to do in the airbnb so that is in itself an attraction ..and then outdoor activities one day and indoor another.
.something charming and quaint for kids ages 5 to 15 mix boys and girls..
Maybe something with history in there..I want them to be fascinated and their minds expanded to something new (meaning not looking for just cheap thrills type of places)
Budget is open.

I love this idea but my baby is literally a baby and wouldn’t be able to participate and I don’t think my husband would be able to watch the others adequately by himself. Do you have any other ideas of something we could do?

Drive to PA to a parkand bring sleds and do your own sledding, here is where you can find the parks that are set up for it

Fake MasterChef competition. You make a mystery box of ingrediants, set up cook stations and then there is a timer and taste test |
Yes please!!

For midwinter you might still be able to get into white house tour. Its free.., you need to contact your state representative a few weeks before . We did it thru chuck shumers office
You can also do statue of liberty\ellis island. Boats are winterized... If you book enough in advance you can do the crown
