Making lasagna for the first time ever. Do I cook the noodles or just bake it dry with sauce and cheese?
And does anyone have a good recipe for the mixture?

I never have luck with no cook noodles. They never cook properly for me. I recently made lasagna and only had the no cook ki d in the house. I pre cooked them anyway and the lasagna came out perfect.

Do accordingly to instructions on box.
If you use uncooked be generous with the sauce layers.

I never cook beforehand. I make sure to cover the bottom of the pan with sauce before putting in any noodles and put tons of sauce on top so that all the noodles are covered completely.

It cooks faster if you pre-cook the lasagna sheets.
If you're not pre-cooking, make sure there's plenty sauce.

I never boil first. You can use the regular noodles and pour milk (or water) over the lasagna to cook.

Okay thank you all.
What do I put between the layers besides sauce and shredded cheese? Cream cheese or cottage cheese?

You can add cream cheese.

I like making a white sauce and adding in lots of roast veggies like mushroom, onion, zuccini between lasagne layers.
Or making a cheese and tuna lasagne

I have a recipe that calls for regular raw noodles. You pour a cup of water around the perimeter, cover tightly, and bake.

You need to have a specific recipe to know the amount of liquid and longer cook time for the no bake noodles. I personally do not like it, it had a chewy texture.

If you're using a full size oven go for it.
Otherwise, soak the noodles in hot water until they are pliable, and then drain and assemble (the cooking takes too long in a convection microwave oven/toaster oven).

This and I also add water to the marinara jar and pour onto the sides of the lasagna. Bh cooked beautifully every time

I use the recipe from between carpools but I do not put in the spinach. I use the oven ready lasagna noodles so I don't have to cook it first. My family loves it!

If you’re making for the first time I highly suggest par boiling the lasagna noodles and do not use the no boil ones just regular type. I find there’s a lot of room for error with not cooking before. I would cook 4-5 min just until the noodles are pliable but not fully cooked. Hatzlacha!

What’s the point? So then why not just fully cook it and then make regular lasagna?

I think most frum people use cottage cheese. When my non Jewish coworkers found out about it they were horrified because it’s “supposed” to be ricotta. I will say ricotta definitely elevates it but cottage cheese is good.

And I agree with others to just cook the noodles first.

Cook noodles to el Dante

Mix a jar of marinara, tub of cottage cheese or ricotta and 1 egg

Spray bottom of pan, add 4 noodles slightly overlapping across to cover the bottom
Add in a portion of the sauce to slightly cover the noodles, and then put down a layer of american cheese slices
Repeat 3-4x
Cover the top with last noodles, sprinkle some mozzarella or Parmesan cheese on top and bake uncovered for 30-40 min
