My SIL had a baby and I have her a huge box of hand me downs, and some new things still in the package that I never used. Random things like pacis and onesies. They also borrowed some of our baby gear while they are still picking out their own. I don’t want to be too cheap, but honestly, money is tight, do I get them a gift besides? And if yes, can it be a smaller one? Can I give a play mat that’s unopened but the box is bashed up?

Can you take it out of the bag and put it directly in a gift bag? I think that is more than enough.

skip anything in bashed up packaging
better to give one new outfit or blanket or toy for under $20

You don’t have to give more. If you want to, you can take the mat out of the packaging and give it to them.

first baby gets the most gifts and that’s what my sils did for me gift for first baby / brunch sent from a nicer cafe … if I have nice hand me downs I’ll save for my sisters babies otherwise a 20 outfit, book or a toy
My sil don’t want my hand me downs- my sisters don’t mind it’s a personality thing too.
