Hi,

I'm planning a bar-mitzvah Shabbos, my in laws will be coming in from out of town and we'll be having an intimate Friday night meal together and then a larger kiddish/lunch with extended family and friends. I will be hosting both in my home. I really don't know where to start. I do want this to be a very nice simcha, with a nicer and more special setup, however I really don't want to overspend. I think with enough time and starting in advance (it will be in March I"YH) I can do it, but I've never done something like this before. Does anyone know where I can rent nice tablescapes, centerpieces ideas, or even flowers. I'm in the Teaneck area, so Monsey and Passaic are the closest but if I need to go further Brooklyn or Lakewood, I will. Has anyone done this before and can give me some sort of direction, I would be very very grateful because at this point I feel very lost.

Thank you so much in advance!

I’ve done it without a party planner but only when I had a caterer who was the more artistic type who had the know how to set up beautiful and know where to order from etc. he showed me tablecloth options etc and everything was done thru him. If it’s not a caterer who has that style then if you really care about the pathetic a party planner might not end up costing more but might have the ability to make things much easier for you. They can know where to cut corners and how to get the handful of nice things that will make a wow effect without spending tons. If it’s one who will work with a budget she may have her own props etc and then it’s not costing you more vs getting it all yourself.

That makes sense, ok I'm open to reaching out to people to see if they can do it for a reasonable price, would anyone be able to recommend someone who can do something like this? I reached out to 3 planners but they all wanted to do a whole production and wouldn't do something on a smaller scale.
