Need new flooring. Want something timeless, easy to clean, easy to deal with and good for busy house with kids. Do you like your LVP and how long have you had it?

My contractor recommended waterproof laminate instead of LVP. Laminate can be laid over tile, whereas the LVP cannot, so it would save us $7000 in demo. I'm nervous if it's the right decision

We got it installed 6 months ago, NJ. So far so good. FWIW, we did install it over existing tile…pm if you are in the tristate area and would like the name of the company that supplied and installed.

We installed lvp over our old hardwood about 2.5 years ago.
I love it! Looks great and is easy to maintain and clean

We put in LVP over concrete 6 years ago and are very happy with it.
The only downside is because it’s glued down I can’t use my steam mop to clean them.
But it’s holding up very nicely.

Thank you so much. Can I ask why you didn't refinish hardwood? What s the advantage of LVP over the initial hardwood?

Good question!
Our hardwood needed a lot of repair, and it would have cost about the same as putting in the LVP. We got the highest grade LVP with 20 year commercial warrantee and lifetime residential warrantee so we are hoping it will last us longer than refinishing the hardwood, which needs to be redone every few years.
Ours is the type that clicks into each other and isn't glued, so I do use a steam mop on it.
