Does anyone have a recipe for french roast that isn't in a sauce. More like a "steak" type?

Make a paste of spices with oil, smear all around the roast
Broil 15 minutes, turn over broil 15 minutes, then do another 15 minutes broil top and bottom, so total half hour broil for top, half hour broil for bottom, but alternating every 15 minutes.
Cover and bake on 250/300 for another 1-2 hours until cooked through.

Smear with spices-paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder etc. cover tightly and bake for 3 hours on 300 degrees. I sometimes add some balsamic vinegar and/or onions but no need.
