Hand grater
When I make a small kugel I actually prefer it so I don't have to wash the processor.

Haloumi salad.
Not hard, but a lot of steps.
Cube, spice and roast sweet potato.
Sauté purple onion and pepper strips, add teriyaki and a bit of maple or honey.
Dress lettuce and cubed cukes with a bit of dressing, a simple vinegraite will do.
Cube, bread (flour, egg and cornflake crumbs) and fry haloumi cheese (do this last).
Layer lettuce, sautéed veggies, sweet potato and haloumi cheese. Sprinkle with some roasted and salted nuts if you like, such as cashews.
Delicious!

If you have a dollar tree by you. It’s $1.25

I use it when I only make one kugel and I don’t want to take the machine down.

Babka recipe
Dough:
¾ C + 2 Tbsp. warm water
3 packets (6 ¾ tsp.) active dry yeast
¼ C + 2 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp vanilla sugar
¾ C margarine ( 1 ½ sticks), melted (I just microwave it for about 30 seconds) (I use 1 stick margarine and 1/4 cup oil)
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
4 C flour
Mix all ingredients to form a smooth dough. I do this in the bread machine on the dough setting.
Filling: for chocolate:
½ C (1 stick) margarine (I use oil)
½ box (approximately!) chocolate pudding mix (any brand is fine)
1 egg
¼ C water
1 C sugar
½ C cocoa
Filling: For cinnamon
1/2 cup confectionary sugar
3 Tbsp cinnamon
1 box vanilla pudding mix
1 egg
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water (sometimes a little less)
1/3 cup oil
Mix filling ingredients (in bowl with spoon) (either chocolate or vanilla) to form a “shmear”. (if it’s a little liquidy, let it sit for a minute or so, it will thicken.)
Divide dough into 4 equal balls. Roll out each ball into as thin a rectangle as possible (I use a silpat sheet and do it to that size, it’s a little smaller than a cookie sheet) and spread with ¼ of filling. Roll dough and filling up lengthwise, jelly-roll style.
Take 2 rolls and twist together. Form into a circle in a round pan and press ends together. Repeat with remaining 2 rolls. Place in round bundt pan.
Sprinkle with crumb topping:
½ C flour
Heaping 1/3 cup sugar
2-3 tbsp. oil
Set to rise 1/2 hour.
Bake at 350 for about 35 - 40 minutes.
