Hi  I want to make something homemade for the kids' school and playgroup morahs. Can anyone suggest a dessert or something to make that feels a little nicer or effort put into it (especially since I plan to do this instead of giving a gift/cash)... I know basic desserts but wondering if theres something anyone has done or seen that is a touch more

A cheesecake (not with pre-made crust, made in a springform pan) in a nice box.
Cookies half dipped in chocolate and wrapped in a cellophane bag with a large satin bow.

Im telling you right now unless I know u personally I throw out any homemade food items. Im not the only one. Your better off sending a chocolate bar or a bought muffin etc

Please don’t send anything that needs to go in the fridge- it will be garbage by the time I get home

Also a cheesecake in a springform pan is $$$, might as well give her a check. OP, I agree with PP, unless they know you personally, odds are she may not want to use it. Unless you know you live in the type of community where it’s a totally normal and even expected thing to do. I would do a nicely wrapped bought muffin with an iced coffee or something similar.
