I have never received a gift from my mother-in-law in all the 20 years I am married for Chanukah or any other time of the year. I used to gift her but she barely even said thank you and didn't even seem to appreciate it so I don't bother anymore.

OMG SAME! I never received anything except for flowers twice in my marriage. I used to give her gifts all the time for helping with the kids but I'm so burnt out from never getting anything in return.

Please look at what she does for you. Maybe gifts aren’t her love language so she doesn’t get that you need that. She might be giving you something else that is her love language so she thinks you need that also!!!

That's what I was going to say. People who don't seem to appreciate your gifts, I don't get insulted when they don't gift me back. It might take a few times but then I realize they're just not gift people and it goes both ways. OTOH, some people do expect gifts for every occasion but they don't give gifts, then it's just weird and I don't play that game.

Did they have a gift registry for the wedding? If so, you can check it and see if anything wasn’t purchased yet, and go from there. Otherwise, soft fluffy slippers, a mani pedi gift certificate, some beautiful scarves if she wears those, a pretty necklace/pendant, some books in her favorite genre (with a gift receipt, in case she’s already read those).
I would specifically avoid any clothing items (unless you are absolutely certain of her size) and anything that’s useful for housekeeping and not just her (no cookbooks or cleaning supplies—if you know she loves to bake, then a fancy cake pan would be nice, though)

So she has Uggs, new wallet, pocket books…
Someone else is gifting her with mani/pedi.
She has all her kallah jewelry. She has a huggle sweater. She is not really a reader.
So lost 🤔
