I'm so sad. I love latkes and I love donuts! Latkes I can do in small amounts as part 9f a meal, but I don't think there's really any way to have donuts...guess I'll just have to feel deprived and miserable. Which is pretty much my life now.

I don’t know how brittle you are, or whether you avoid carnal together or do carb counting? But can you have it for dessert if it is the carbs for your meal? Some people can get away with it. Other people, depending on their blood sugar control, use sliding scale insulin and can give themselves more coverage.

I wouldn’t recommend either, but it might be a quality of life and not letting perfection get in the way of good enough.

I don't take insulin. So far, I can tolerate potatoes in small amounts as part of a high protein meal, but still very limited amounts. At least for now, I haven't really been able to manage any sweets, even as the carbs for the meal. I'm hoping as I get things under control I'll be able to sometimes have a sweet, but right now I can't ☹️

I wasn't a latke or donut eater before so it's not that hard for me. however there are a lot of gourmet treats this time of year and that's hard. the only thing I can say is to have a bite or 2 and call that your carb for the meal.

I found it really helpful to remember that I like my eyes and feet more than food….

Not the same. Zucchini is fine, I like it, it's a perfectly fine and respectable vegetable. But it will never take the place of potatoes and pasta (the other thing everyone suggests it as a replacement for). Sorry, giving up potatoes and pasta has made my life barely worth living and zucchini will never make up for it.

And cauliflower pizza tastes just like cauliflower!! It’s really tough, and most people just don’t get it.
