And off dairy as well. For the most part. I may or may not try some GF cheese latkes if I’m desperate.
TBH I’m totally fine and not craving gluten anymore but it’s other people’s reactions and comments that I hate. Explaining myself all the time argh.
It seems gluten and dairy are so addictive people really feel sorry for anyone who can’t/wont indulge.
Thoughts and prayers welcome

Hey amother. I’m in the same boat. For a few years already I’m staying away from diary because as it bothers me more , I crave it less. But this year will be a new level. For me the difficulty is more that I won’t be home at all for Chanukah so I’m at the mercy of trying to find something to eat that is ok for me. Honestly I don’t feel I have to explain myself. I just smile and say no thanks. If anyone wants to push I just again smile and say none for me thanks. Rinse and repeat. Why do I or you have to explain to anyone if we don’t want to ?

Good point. I should try that sometime. I was recently at a Sheva brachos and the hostess took it very personal that I didn’t eat anything. So I had to explain. And then it turned into a whole convo. I hate that. I’ll try to do as you say.

Another enthusiastic thumbs-up for Cookie Corner’s doughnuts. Their entire gluten free line is amazing. They call it Twisty.
When my daughter was diagnosed last fall, one of her biggest concerns was doughnuts on Chanukah. We did not need to worry. Twisty doughnuts were INCREDIBLE - better than most non-GF we tasted. Many flavors and fillings. They delivered to many locations last year. So far it’s not on their website but maybe email them?
I also made some delicious GF doughnuts myself last Chanukah and they were quite good. I can post recipe if I can find it.

I just don't explain. I smile and say no thank you, not right now. I really don't like it when the topic of conversation is what I am or am not eating . I find it very uncomfortable.
Evergreen in Lakewood sells wholly wholesome gluten free pizza dough in the freezer. I shape it into donuts and deep fry for my gluten free family.

Cookie Corner gf donuts! I have ncgs so I can eat a bit of gluten, but I feel sick if I do. I didn't feel the need on chanukah because cookie corner donuts were SO GOOD.

Was thinking about trying this. Did you ever not shape them and try to fill with jam?

I made delicious gluten free donuts and latkes! We bring food to every party we go, and we bring enough to share with the crowd so my kid doesn’t feel left out.

I’m not a kid so I can handle it I just mostly hate the comments. I never made donuts before is it worth the hassle?

It’s not on their website yet. I checked. Wonder if they’ll make them available to ship. They told me they won’t be making deliveries this year when I emailed them about it.

Although I do not have celiac, I have at different points in my life been GF, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, Keto, Paleo, oil free, etc., etc. and what I can tell you is that while I tend to favor just eating whatever fits my eating plan at the moment, rather than trying to create substitutes for it, mainly because I'm lazy, there are ENDLESS recipes online to create delicious substitutes for the things that you may be craving.
Now in terms of the annoyance of telling people and dealing with their pity and/or judgement about it, I always felt it best to phrase my statement in the positive. That is, rather than say, "I can't have wheat" say "I am choosing not to eat wheat." It's has the sound of empowerment rather than deprivation.

It depends. How much do you want a donut? The biggest hassle for me is what do I do with the oil after
Other than that it’s not that hard to do
