Same here. I don’t attribute it to the actual name, but to being named after the same person. And I’ve observed it in more than one extended family.
Definitely. I don’t think all “any names” are “anything”. I don’t think that’s possible. I have seen relatives named after the same person have certain common traits.
I think people see what they want to see and latch on to anything that remotely reminds them of the person for whom they named the kid. I also think they create a self-fulfilling prophecy by magnifying and nurturing those traits more than others.
It's the same thing if you talk about physical traits: people see what they want to see. Whichever set of grandparents is looking at a child will swear the kid resembles them, even if the two sets of grandparents are polar opposites looks-wise.
