Is it a very difficult job? Does it require any sort of education or training?

And I agree,
Salary assumptions in general are overinflated. I find that the best paying careers vs experience vs hours put in, are the newlywed girls in Lakewood doing medical billing that get hired straight out of seminary with no degree or work experience for 65k, get 6 months training, and 5 years in are making 6 figures and working 25 hours per week total or less.

These numbers are high. My husband has a decade of experience in his field and makes less than 45k at one job and was laid off from his seasonal job where he made over 100k. after taxes though it was so little and if he goes to kollel and we get onto benefits we would be far more comfortable but my rav doesnt allow.

Pardon me for asking but why does your rav need to “allow”?
I’m
Not saying it’s smart to not have a job but if you’re struggling and would bring home more money and be able to better support your family if you switch careers…. Why would you need permission?

It’s a lot of people’s reality though not everyone.

People who started out in medical billing 8+ years ago are absolutely making 6 figures by now in A LOT of cases, and they work kollel schedule hours.

I don’t work in Lakewood so I don’t make this kind of $ but my sisters, cousins, friends do.

No not really.
I agree that girls start off insanely high. But first of all, things are slowing down and the progression is not as high.
Also, the reason these offices hire women is because stereotypically by 5 years in, they cut their hours to 9:30-3 or something.

Meaning year 1 9-5 50k
Year 2 9-5 65k
Year 3 9-5 75k
Year 4 9-4 75k
Year 5 9:30-3 78k
Year 6 9:30-3 82k

Men cost more (stereotypically) because they're not going to cut their hours. So even a modest 5k raise a year keeps raising and raising and raising.

??? I don't really understand this. If men would work more hours, they would get more work done, no? So I would think it's the part time women who cost more, bot the men? Because they're paying them more for less hours worked/work done.

I agree with you.
But the companies don't
I don't understand why they hire girls like crazy, pay them insane salaries, knowing that they WILL cut their hours within a few years, rather than hire men straight out of yeshiva knowing that men won't cut their hours and will be ok working until 2 on Friday in the winter and 4 or 5 in the summer, etc.
