So we’re here again. Gifts time. Between all my kids we have 22 teachers/ helpers. I can’t give a money gift I just can’t do it. People say if you don’t give the rebbe he’s gonna treat my kid the same. Is this true? What do I do?

I really truly appreciate this rebbe and everything he does for my son. (As I do with most of my kids teachers). Even $5 per teacher is $100, I can’t afford that, just trying to pay electric without it getting turned off

What do I do?

The most important part is the hakaras hatov card. If your child is old enough, they can help you write them

Pls do not do home baked. It will go straight in the garbage. Most rabbeim/Morah’s won’t eat as they don’t know the hechsheirim you used. A card is beautiful! And if you can save 1or 2 dollars a week per rebbe/Morah till Purim it will add up.

Can you find a chocolate bar on sale? I got ones for 2.50 and they’re pretty. Send that with a note.

Depends on the type of families in the school.
My fil is a prominent yeshivish rav and gets 100s of pkgs of homemade food over the year and he rarely throws anything out. (He doesn’t throw out food ever anyways unless it’s dangerous to eat). I’m always shocked how ppl assume other Jews cannot be trusted.
During yoshon season if it isn’t marked yoshon they give it away.

DH is a rebbe, we love homemade! (as long as it is looks clean! No fingerprints in the frosting where your kids touched it please!)

We send our boys to the school that dh teaches in, I figure any of those families could be (and some are) families my kids play with and eat in their house, so I would happily eat their food.

But honestly honestly, dh hates when parents feel pressure to give anything. We know how hard it is to pay tuition and other frum expenses, and he feels really bad when parents give money, especially when he knows that they cant really afford it. He would rather you spend the money on your kids. (I know that not all teachers feel this way, but the ones who care about your kids do)
