I'm a big fan of 550 on central ave. Nice atmosphere, service, great menu, decent portion sizes. Not cheap, but for a few appetizers maybe doable. Look at the menu online

Sushi team in Flatbush is nice and quiet and so so so cheap. They also serve you there, and that contributes to the vibe.

And their sushi is simply epic

I was also gonna suggest sushi..it's nice there, not fancy but not like take out

Want to go out to eat with DH to a nice quiet upscale place without breaking the bank. Possible to pull off? Did you ever go out to eat and were surprised how low the bill was after?

Would go anywhere half hour drive from brooklyn - also rather prefer meat.

Le Marais in Manhattan has a steak special and if you stick to that you'll be fine. Great atmosphere. Enjoy!

I don't think we've eaten out more than once or twice since Covid, mostly because we're very restricted. But I remember mentioning to DS that I'm not sure we'll go because prices have gone up so much.

DS, very knowledgeable about e/t, says, don't worry Ma, it's still not more than a tank of gas.

Doma is very very expensive.

They are not more expensive than the loft, glatt a la carte or bison and bourbon

And their food is delicious!

Ideally not more than $100 - and we're not very big eaters.... we would skip the mains and just order 2 or 3 appetizers type...

China glatt maybe

Why are you naming 3 other expensive restaurants when OP is NOT looking for an expensive restaurant?

Also if youre willing to consider dairy, Spoons might be an option. They serve you and they have a pretty nice menu and are reasonably priced.

Boef & Bun in Crown Heights - more of a burger place but you can come out with a bill of around $100. Very upscale.

I just rechecked their menu and they also have flatbreads, ribs and a bunch of other apps. Their mains are burgers or salads.

I think this fits most into your original want of $100 and upscale vs all the other options.

I just added up 3 apps and a cocktail for a total of $116.44 with tax and tip.
Sample menu:
Chicken Tacos - 2pcs - $21
Rack of Beef Ribs (1.25lbs) - $30
Pastrami Flatbread - $27
Mangorita - $16

If you’re ok with dairy Pescada is a really nice place in Flatbush.
Sample menu:
Pescada Pizza (with seared tuna no dairy) - $22
Mushroom Gnocchi- $31
Warm Haloumi Salad - $22
Total is $96.66 with 20% tip and taxes
(I did not include a drink as I didn’t see that part of the menu online)

And now I’m hungry 🤤

ETA: a $16 drink would be another $20.62 with tax and tip.

For how long did he fry the steak? And is it rare? He doesn't show the color once it's sliced.
How long should I fry it for if I want it to be medium/well done?

Pescada is also great. Delicious and different food not just the same pasta and pizza.

I find that fireside in Monsey is quite decently priced.
