It's personally not for my family, but I'm happy to have more schools in town because it will free up the burden on other schools.
The real question is, when will someone start a non-Bais Yaakov frum highschool for girls here?!? That is a very pressing need. |
There was one started some years ago but it only lasted a few years before it fell apart.

It was not a rumor. I spoke to the person involved directly this past summer. He told me they were working on it. I do not know if he is still working on it or it fell through.

Oh I hope so! Are you still in contact with him? Is there any way for me to find out if it’s still in the works?

That was a while ago… I think things are right that it would turn out differently this time.

Every girls school that opened closed pretty quickly, with the exception of Bnos. Chabad took a few tries, they tried to have a girls school and it didn’t last. Maybe now it’s different since they also have boys school and yeshiva. I think they also have a girls high school.

I think with the graduating OCA classes getting bigger it’s a different situation now. A girls high school may actually work and stay around and is actually very wanted by (hopefully enough) parents in the community .

Could be. Is Beth tefillah too much to the left for a lot of the girls? There’s also Berman and YGW, but it’s a drive to get there.

Beth Tfiloh is way way to the left of that and is not an option for the girls we are discussing. The majority of the BT families are not shomer Shabbos.

As someone not from Baltimore, what are the key differences between YGW girls' division and the two existing BY's in Baltimore?
Berman is an MO co-ed school, so I get why that would offer something different.

YGW is not a BY school. I don’t know all the differences, but I do know that there is a good number of girls coming to BY every day from silver spring.

Still not in middle school yet.
I don’t know!
I honestly have no idea what I will do with my girls.
I don’t have to worry about it yet but I will at some point.

Is the difference mainly in the demographic makeup of each student body? Just from looking online, YGW seems a lot like the OOT community BY in my community, but bigger. Better limudei chol, more activities.

I don’t really know. I don’t know how big the school is, there are girls who go there from Baltimore. I think the uniform is slightly different, I think they have polo shirts? I’m trying to remember if they send to convention.
What I mean by it isn’t a bais Yaakov is that it doesn’t have bais Yaakov in its name, etc. it’s a frum school.

This is an old thread about YGW. Maybe it can help explain the differences?

Is this the “more yeshivish” school people were talking about?
Anyone know if a more “modern” girls high school is in the works? |
I don’t think so about the more modern school. Baltimore really needs it though
