Looking for a good orthodontist in Baltimore that doesn't charge an arm and a leg.
I have very minimal orthodontic insurance, will only cover a maximum of $1,500, which doesn't get us very far. I already got one estimate that was close to $7k and I'm hoping there are more affordable options out there.
Bonus if they have Friday afternoon, Sunday, or evening hours.

Dr. Stern. He is great and will work with you on a payment plan. Has Friday afternoon hours and early morning hours so kids can go before school.

Thanks, I have heard he is great, but he's the one that gave me a $7k estimate.

orthodontics are expensive period.

Dr Stern is amazing.
You can try Dr Markowitz or Dr Lavi (in the atrium). I know both are good and many use them.

You probably won't get much of a break, but you can ask for a payment plan. I currently am in Invisalign (not for cosmetic reasons, but the only way to preserve my teeth). My insurance covered some and I have to cover about $3600. Part was upfront, but otherwise I pay $100 a month for 24 months.

Try Dr. markowitz. He’s very good, been doing it for years, and is significantly cheaper than Dr. Stern. We’ve used him for all of our kids so far who needed braces.

Not so much cheaper anymore unfortunately. I have also used him many times, and just got estimates from dr Markovtiz and dr lavi , both were similar prices and were about 6.5-7k

I don't think he's cheaper anymore. I'd go with Dr. Stern.

I really appreciate all the feedback.
So is it true that $6-7k is now pretty much the standard??? So crazy! I can't fathom how people pay for several kids in braces at a time!
Just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something. If anyone recently had a good braces job done for significantly less, please let me know.

My sister has Medicaid and got approved for braces for one of her kids. She went to a newish orthodontist. I forgot the name. I saw ads a while back. Maybe she's cheaper (for none Medicaid members), but I do know she moved out to columbia area--so a bit of a pain to get to.

Also you aren't paying 6k-7k at once. It's over a couple years--and maybe they'd agree to longer payment plans--doesn't hurt to ask.

We paid around $5k (if that much, I think less) with Dr. Markowitz. That was before insurance. So we’re actually paying less than that. Call around.

Did his prices just go up? One of my tweens just started recently and we’re not paying that much, I don’t think…

Thanks. I guess it can't hurt to get a consultation with Dr. Markowitz as well.

Often the price correlates to how much work is needed.

So a 5k job and 6.5k job may be over longer span of time or need more supplies.
