Why the impossible to maneuver trissim?

And why do doors need keys to lock them from inside? What a challenge when we lose one key and one of us can't leave because we can't lock...

The top floor less cabinet with dish drainer kills a storage cabinet for me as I use disposables.

Many apartments I stayed in needs Sun for hot water. On a cloudy day if you forget to manually turn on the hot water boiler you have to wait to have hot water.

I hate the closets here, I like it way better in america that closets are an actual room and dont take up space in the bedroom.
also the doors dont close normally, dont know how to explain it but they are like popping out of the door molding.

I love all the things you complain about in your OP besides for the key thing. Trissim are great because they are attached into the wall so that no light comes through the crack and you can get a really good night's sleep without being woken up by sunlight. If they are impossible to maneuver, call a handyman to get them fixed. Over sink drying racks are a great idea to dry dishes without taking up the minimal counter space. And a dud shemesh saves tons of money on utilities.

When you lock with a key from the outside and leave it in you cant unlock the door from the outside. Smart thing if you want to lock out a person.
You'll learn to manage trissim just as all of us.

You may redo your home and rip out those irritating trissim, have the dud chashmal turned on 24/7 and pay accordingly, change to an American lock and convert your closet. Will you be happier then?

Why don't showers drain properly? Either there is no lip so the whole bathroom floor gets wet or the shower floor isn't slightly angled so all the water goes down the drain. Having to squeegee after each shower is annoying, especially on erev Shabbos.

This is the most ridiculous kvetch thread!
If these things really bother you they all have simple solutions. You can get a gas or electric automatic tankless water heater been around for the past 25 yrs at least. You can get door knobs that lock without a key. Trissim is probably the only one to not solve easily. There are solutions like windows with build in blinds but that would require you change your windows.
All in all it says “ EY is acquired through Yissurim” may these be the biggest ones you experience.
When visiting EY or living there, it’s not about the comfort, open your eyes and be open to accept and see the rich beauty in all aspects

Itw funny as an American with much family in ey some of these little petty issue's are dreams .
Dish dtainer cabinet ? Amazing no more dushes on counter!. Most months of the yr are got enough the water heats without a hitch-it is a desert land

All are fixable.
The trissim shouldn't be hard to do, they obviously aren't in the track properly or there is a broken one which can cause problems. You can also swap to electric trissim which solves you having to pull the cord.

Change the draining cupboard to a normal cupboard it just needs a plank of wood and someone handy.

We have a 'shabbos timer' on our dud Shemesh. During the winter it's set to go on for an HR or 2 everyday. So no forgetting.

Change the lock or door. There are so many options. Many people are now changing to number locks

Needing a key from the inside drives me mad. It's a fire safety issue, or a rocket safety issue if you don't have a mamad. If I want to leave the house and can't find a key and I have a regular door, I have the choice of leaving it unlocked. If you need a key from the inside not an option. You can't even let someone in. I know someone who used to keep a key in the lock, but if someone accidentally pushed it in all the way then no one could open it from the outside.

I'm very glad that my current apartment only needs a key from the outside.

All the things you mentioned are assets or can easily be resolved. I suspect that you (OP) are finding it hard living here for other reasons (maybe missing family/cultural differences) and that's why these things are getting to you. I remember when we first made aliyah I found some of these things difficult as well. Once I had adjusted to living here, they either no longer bothered me or I fixed them (dud timer for example).

I always wanted a dish draining cabinet here in America. They're genius. And trissim. I'll forego the dud shemesh. In sem we used to call it the hot dude. "Did you turn on the hot dude yet?" Omg we were hilarious.

Been here almost 22 years. Lived in many places. Had one place that had a bad tris. Otherwise they were great.

Most homes today dont even have those. When we bought we didnt put them in. Its a thing of the (mostly) past.

Put a timer for your dude. Weve lived in msny rentals before we bought. We always asked the lamdlord if wr could do that. Never had an isue with hot water.
