220k, been working at this nonprofit for 9 years. It’s still not enough to support our family where we live. Tuition is high, housing is beyond and our teenage girls never stop asking for new clothing etc. frum life is expensive!!

What type of work does a non profit pay 220k for?

Is that 9 years total experience?

These threads make me so sad. DH works 15-16hr days and makes $1500/week. No benefits or anything else and he has to pay for a sub if he ever needs one (so always skipping simchas or important events...)

Kashrus mashgiach with 5 years experience.

My husband has this type of job for years and was also not motivated to ask for more or rock the boat but years down the line he was promoted nicely (which is kind of rare in this f”field”, if you could call kashrus a field ) and bh is making much more. Hold tight

Maybe some of these salaries are from the boom post covid? Vs if you’re at the same job for 15 years and started at a 15 years ago starting salary and only got standard incremental raises not keeping up with the market rates…? Just a hypothesis

He's not ambitious, would not ask for a raise because that means disturbing the status quo.

This was my husband for 10 years. After taxes and deductions his take home pay was $1,125 per week. I had to fill in the huge gaping financial hole we were in, and it was extremely difficult because I also had to manage the house since I worked from home. He quit his job and it was the best thing he ever did, because I had him around more. It was a little hard because we were living on just my income, but bh I was able to put more hours into my work and earn enough to cover our expenses. At this point he's working on opening his own business which should hopefully be bringing in a nice profit. His confidence also grew a ton since he left, because he didn't realize that he was in an insanely toxic environment until he was out of there.

Im the amother whose husband was recently promoted to Controller for 105k plus some transportation and benefits.
A poster commented fyi that Controllers make more in Lakewood.
My experience is that a lot of people say that but lmaysa at the interviews and offers it's not really true.
He had 2 interviews for similar jobs, 1 threw around 100k with benefits, 1 threw around 120k no benefits.
We're talking beginning Controller.

Im realizing that many posters are over inflated salary assumptions.

My husband makes less than yours - he gets rejected from any job he applies for, including ones offering 50k or less. He’s a taxi driver at this point.

The male job market in Lakewood is awful right now. These lucky people on this thread should pray their husbands keep their jobs because if they get laid off, good luck to them.

DH works for a non-profit 35 hours a week. Makes about 3K a month. Gets a paid lunch break but no other benefits.

(As an aside they are often behind in pay)

Hugs! My husband is making less than $30 an hour in a specialized position with a few years of experience. It's hard for him to advocate for himself especially when he feels like he wouldn't get much for his trouble anyways. He's looking for a new job but in the meantime you can appreciate the gvmt benefits you may be eligible for. I'm still on jersey care for my kids and that's worth a lot of money! Also 78K isn't that low in my opinion although the no benefits and flexibility sound rough.

No.
Never studied or sat for the CPA because the jobs being offered it wasn't necessary.
Maybe one day.
