Got a notice that medicaid will be terminated 12/31/2024 because we are over income.

We are $6528 UNDER income for the year. Does it go by monthly income or yearly income? Some months we might make over the monthly requirement but for the year we are $6528 UNDER. (using our 2023 tax return. Our 2024 tax return will actually show an even lower income.)

I requested a state hearing. What else should I do?

Two of our children are disabled and receive SSI. If their money counts then we ARE over income. But..... does childrens' SSI count towards income guidelines for medicaid in Ohio?

Thanks if anyone can help!

Have you reached out to Gesher about it?

I absolutely will. Just found out this evening. Gotta reach out here anonymously first to calm my freakout. Smile

You guessed my city. I COULD be elsewhere in Ohio, but yup. Cleve.

LOL! I wasn't sure but Gesher is from Agudah Ohio, so I'm pretty sure anyone in OH can ask them.

A state hearing is the way to go - for sure. But they do go by monthly income, not yearly

So..... apply right after a month that meets the requirements? Or if you're paid every other week and have a couple of 5 week months each year you're screwed???

Yes.

Can you get united refuah coverage for a few months until you get back on?
(I don't know how it works)

For sure call gesher in the morning.
This is their niche.

I am so so sorry for you op. I can't imagine the stress.

Unfortunately I'm fairly certain that SSI income is considered income.

I will call Gesher next week, I promise.

Meanwhile I filled out the healthcare.gov thing to qualify to buy marketplace insurance. We qualify and because we're losing medicaid need to choose a plan by March something. So far so good. BUT..... to SEE the plans, I have to click on "enroll" which is greyed out and below that is info for us to send our info to medicaid.

Healthcare.gov says NOT to put in the SSI. So I didn't. Without our multiple kids on SSI, we DO qualify for medicaid. So healthcare.gov won't let us see the plans so I can prepare for a meeting with gesher because they say NOT to put in the SSI income so healthcare.gov thinks we qualify for medicaid (which we might still do--- I don't know!)

argh this is frustrating.
