my six year old son just started showing symptoms of tourettes. a couple of months ago he started making these wierd movements with his nose which drove us crazy but slowed down enough for it not to bother me. lately he started making noises with his tongue, moving his nose, clearing his throat, making funny movements with his hands. he cant controll it. he is a very good student, no problems in school, not hyperactive just a regular active six year old. someone mentioned to me to give him shaklee magnesium products does anyone have experience with this and shaklee vitamins?

Not magnesium. I would ask a holistic healer for advice. Ask them about my recommendations:
Zinc – Zinc forms bridges in the nerves in the brain. It helps ADD kids focus. Some teachers swear they can tell the days a kid not take zinc.
B Complex – crucial for neural health. Want to be a happy relaxed mommy, take 2 every day. imagine how much more it works on a child.
Raw Unfiltered Honey – this is an age old cure. 2 tablespoons taken consistently every day will significantly control the tics, as it is a healing for the nervous system. Results begin at 2 weeks.

please see a pediatric neurologist ASAP. you can try the holistic method in addition, but PLEASE see a doctor. This is not normal behavior and a doctor would need to make sure there is not something serious going on.

It just might not be tourettes. I second what others have said about seeing a doctor. There are many other reasons a child might have tics, twitches, or movement disorders. Some are simple some are serious. A close family member of mine had a ten year old exhibiting these symptoms, the mom absolutely freaked as this was a bright kid that was becoming the most annoying child to be around in school and the neighborhood. It ended up being PANDAS which comes from a strep infection. A simple ASO Titer in the blood confirmed it. He was on I believe 4 weeks of antibiotics and has been perfect ever since.
Check it out!~
